Mr. Barack Obama, President of the United States
Mr. Barack Obama, President of the United States
Amid the catastrophic situation in the Middle East caused by Daesh and its supporters, it was the Kurds who had the courage and capacity to take a heroic stand on behalf of the humanity by fighting for freedom, democratic values and human rights. Our men and women, our sons and daughters have been sacrificing their lives for years to protect the whole world from this vicious terror group. Therefore, it is a well-known fact that had it not been for the Kurdish resistance, Daesh would have carried out larger and deadlier attacks in Europe. To uproot these barbarians and to bring peace, democracy and stability to the region we need to carefully consider who we should befriend and cooperate with. We should also keep in mind the fact that we have a common cause and that the Kurds are fighting the enemies of humanity and liberty such as Daesh, Al Qaida, Al Nusra and their various affiliates to bring peace, prosperity and to provide a brighter future not only for their children but for the children of the whole world.
Because they perceived it as an internal issue among Syrian Arabs, Kurds have never been a part of the civil war that started in Syrian in 2011. However, while defending Western Kurdistan (Northern Syria) against jihadists, Kurds are also playing a crucial role for the humanity as they protect the free world by creating a safety zone that confines Deash. This has made Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan) a common target for all terror groups including the jihadists. As a result, all warring parties in Syria have carried attacks on Rojava. However, the international community has assisted Kurds in the fight against these terrorist which in turn has enable the Kurds to create a safe haven for various ethnic and religious communities including Yezidis, and Christian Chaldeans, Assyrians and Armenians.
Many of your brave sons and daughters came to the rescue of the Kurds from the very beginning of the war against jihadists in such places as Kobanê and some of them were even martyred while fighting side by side with Kurds. It is our duty to honor their legacy.
As you know, a number of the states in the region, Turkey in particular, have been supporting these terrorist groups in many ways. Your own brave sons and daughters who have been fighting with us have also been witnessing this support. We also know that you have more than enough information, documents and intelligent reports that proves the support that the jihadist have been receiving. Unfortunately, those who let Turkey, the major supporter of the jihadist terrorism, to invade Rojava, are the same forces who find the accomplishments of your sons and daughters in Rojava as a threat to their filthy plans.
We also know too well that you could have prevented Turkey from invading Rojava.
Today not only our sons and daughter who have been fighting Daesh but also civilians are being bombed by Turkish forces in Syria.
The resistance of the Kurds and their allies in Rojava is meant to protect human rights, democracy, freedom and justice which have been enshrine in various international treaties.
With this spirit, we, the signatories of this declaration, demand from your people, your governments and state institutions the following:
- Help protect our gains and achievements against Daesh.
- You should continue helping the resistance which has been carried to new level by the hard work and blood of your children.
- Raise your voice against attacks on Kurds and their friends by Turkey and its jihadist allies such as Al Nusra, Al Qaida and Daesh.
