Yemen's Houthis Launch Missile and Drone Strikes on Saudi Airports
The Houthi movement claimed missile and drone strikes on Saudi airports, while the coalition reported interceptions.
The Houthi movement in Yemen (Ansar Allah) announced that it launched ballistic missiles and armed drones targeting airports and military installations deep inside Saudi Arabia, while the Saudi-led Arab Coalition confirmed intercepting two incoming missiles.
According to Kurdistan24, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree stated that their forces carried out a broad operation against strategic targets across Saudi territory. According to Saree, targets included civilian and military airfields in Abha, Khamis Mushait, and the capital Riyadh, alongside military bases in the Jazan and Asir regions.
Saree claimed that flight operations at Abha Airport were temporarily suspended, an ammunition depot caught fire at Khamis Mushait, and a reconnaissance drone was downed in al-Jawf province.
In contrast, the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen announced that Saudi air defense systems intercepted a ballistic missile heading towards Khamis Mushait. Another missile was neutralized in airspace north of Riyadh, with debris landing in unpopulated desert areas without causing damage or casualties.
These military escalations occur amid heightened regional tensions impacting maritime routes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
